Shony Reuven received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. It wasn't until he was taking the Medical School Admission Test (MCAT) that he experienced a life changing low back injury. After reaching out to the traditional medical model for assistance, they were only able to offer pharmaceuticals and surgery. He decided that was not a long term sustainable option.
It was clear the medical model needed a less invasive approach where treatment was balanced to allow the body to heal itself. Shony obtained his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) at the University of Michigan - Flint to help fill this gap.
Shony's passion is to optimize movement mechanics and mobility as they are related to human movement. This means that running, cycling, swimming, lifting, squatting, Crossfit, etc. all fit under movement performance.
He has raced all the way up from the beginner to the professional mountain biking level, was on the men's rowing team, performed ballroom dance, ballet, modern dance, and attempted to join a hip hop dance crew at the University of Michigan (In addition to loving wakesurfing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, skiing and snowboarding). These opportunities have allowed him to experience many of the injuries he sees in clinical practice. The spectrum he can personally relate to extends from low back injuries, patello-femoral pain syndrome (PFPS)/patellar tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, shoulder impingement, shoulder dislocations and fracture, fractured ribs, and multiple soft tissue traumas. Shony understands chronic pain as he has been managing his own through maintaining a positive mindset, having positional and bio-mechanical awareness, and incorporating Foundation Training movement patterns into
